Laïssa Alexis (she/her) is a Haitian-born, New Jersey-based artist and filmmaker. Currently, she is working on a documentary about ancestorhood and ways of honoring the dead. It will premiere at the Newark LGBTQ Film Festival. She was part of 2022-2023 cohort of Vanguard Docmakers at the Maysles Documentary Center. She is also a proud member of the Community Media Center at Express Newark. Laïssa enjoys daydreaming about the future and hopes to use cinema to articulate these dreams.
