Meet the NeXt Doc fellows.

NeXt Doc is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for some of the most talented young documentary filmmakers in the country at the beginning stages of their careers.

The year-long Fellowship kicks off with a week-long gathering at the end of September that is intended to be an intensive skills and community building experience. This is followed by a year of mentorship and development for the entire cohort designed to elevate their capacity to succeed creatively and professionally and closes with a re-convening of the Fellows the following fall.

The 2024 NeXt Doc opening gathering took place at the Galusha Hill Farm Lodge’s beautiful 600-acre organic farm in central Vermont, a quiet beautiful setting that provides time for self-reflection, bolsters creativity, and encourages NeXt Doc fellows to be fully present. The week included masterclasses and film screenings presented by award-winning filmmakers along with workshops led by our team that explore the art of non-fiction, project development, treatment writing, budgeting, doc history and critical conversations in the field.

Our goal is to support our Fellows in building networks, amplifying their voices, forming deep relationships and fostering a sense of community amongst the cohort. Please take a look below and meet our NeXt Doc Fellows, past and present.

The network that NeXt Doc provides is truly unparalleled. Before NeXt Doc, I felt isolated and alone and now I feel like I have a support system and a network that has accelerated my career. I am a lot more confident in my work and in my ability to get my projects done now that I have the NeXt Doc family.
