Jamaica Kalika (she/her) is a filmmaker, farmer, and chef of Ndebele, Jewish, and Cape Verdean heritage, based in Washington, DC. Her work is exalted at the intersection of filmmaking, farming, and food preparation. Through her artistry, she aspires to build a future where nourishment and storytelling go hand in hand, cultivating spaces of connection, empowerment, and cultural preservation. She is developing her short documentary, Croom Corridor, an intimate portrait of Black farmers restoring the soil and indigenous technologies of land stewardship in Southern Maryland. Her work has been supported by Visionary Justice StoryLab, the Redford Center, and the Southern Foodways Alliance.
