Nala Haileselassie (she/her) is an artist, researcher and curator based in Toronto, working from the lineage of Black women and cultural workers across the world. Her work is rooted in film, animation, facilitation and archival remixing. She uses her practice as a tool for collaboration, discussion and liberation. Nala looks to rework narratives surrounding migrant and diasporic identities which defy borders and temporal relations. She is the founder of the Black Experimental Film Festival, which held space for critical dialogue on the state of Black experimental cinema in Toronto and beyond through May 2023, she hopes to bring back the fest soon!
