Ntokozo Mlaba (he/him) is a 25-year-old South African filmmaker, writer, and director known for his visually compelling, socially conscious storytelling. He began his artistic journey at the National School of the Arts and has since developed a distinct voice that merges artistry with activism. He holds a bachelor's degree of Commerce in Law from Wits and Honors in Motion Picture Degree. His debut short documentary, A Shadow of the Liberation (2021), explored themes of freedom and identity, followed by the award-winning To Be Seen (2022). To Be Seen forms part of a trilogy that continues with The Passage (2024), tackling gender-based violence and patriarchy. Ntokozo is a recipient of the 2024 Young Voices Award at the Joburg Film Festival and the Emerging Filmmaker Award at the 2026 SAFTAs.
